DeZyneMy name is Maverick Higgins, I was born in Clarendon and grew up in Westmoreland, Jamaica. I attended Petersville all aged school in that same parish. After leaving all age school I went onto high school in Clarendon (Clarendon College).
My involvement in music started at this point I wrote what I called a song at age 12. I kept a keen focus on my education, but always found some time to make up or write a few pieces that would always grab the attention, and amuse my friend’s at high school.
After leaving high school I went on to teachers college in Mandeville (Church Teachers College). It was much the same as high school, in that, I worked hard at my academics but still found time to write a few pieces that would gain the attention, and would amuse most of the student population.
I started performing at college concerts and at local dance’s. I had the privilege of working with Yasus Afari who was a source of inspiration. At this point I decided to try music on a professional basis. My good friend at the time (Gringo Ranks/Gringo/Don Mafia) who was a rising artiste at the time and I started actively seeking a producer. We eventually got started with a label from Mandeville run by The Otras called the Lexus Label.
I did two songs with this particular production, titled (‘Ball head n di dread’ and ‘beauty body’). These songs met with little success in terms of publicity. As a motivator it did me the world of good, I continued to pursue a career in music since that time.
I am presently with a new production team (Delonte Productions), I am looking forward to a more successful future with the music.
My Musical Influences
Yasus, Bob Marley, Professor Nuts, General Trees, Papa San, Eek-a-Mouse, Tenasaw, Mumma Nancy, Mumma Liza and Barrington Gordon (Barry G)
